Dev Bhoomi: Himachal Pradesh
The name “Himachal Pradesh” was devised from the Indo-Aryan words:
‘Him’ suggests that 'snow' and ‘achal’ means 'land' or 'abode'—by acharya

Himachal Pradesh is an Indian state located
in North India, situated in the Western Himalayas. Himachal Pradesh
shares their border with states of Jammu and Kashmir on the
north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the south-west, Uttarakhand on
the south-east and the Tibet Independent Region on the east. At its
southern most point, it also touches the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The state is spread across Dhauladhar Ranges. About 90%
of the state's population lives in rural areas. Rivers in Himachal Pradesh
flows with several hydro power plants which are producing spare electricity that
is sold to other states, such as Delhi, Punjab and West
Bengal. Tourism and agriculture are also important elements of the state's
economy. The state has one of the highest per-capita
incomes among the Indian states and union territories.
The villages have good connectivity with transportation,
public health centres, tele-communication and high-speed broadband. Almost all
houses have a toilet and 100% cleanliness has been completed in the state. Prominent
actions by the state government include a ban on plastic bags and tobacco products. According
to a survey of CMS - Indian Corruption Study 2017, Himachal Pradesh is the
India's least corrupted state.
Himachal Pradesh is a northern most state of India that
offers much for those who are looking to experience the West Himalayas. While
it does not contain the highest peaks in the range but there is plenty to do separately
for hiking. Its name literally means "Abode of Snow".
The most popular and easily reachable Hill State of India is
Himachal Pradesh. People from all over India as well from different parts of
the world love to visit this beautiful State to enjoy its natural beauty. The
Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has acted as an innovator, catalyst
and a prime mover for the promotion of domestic and foreign tourism in Himachal
Pradesh.
